In order for a student to progress, regular attendance is needed and expected. If a student knows in advance that he or she will not be able to attend class, he or she should notify the staff. Make-up classes are available for most levels.

No food, drink, or gum chewing is allowed in class. All students must be potty trained.

IIf inclement weather causes cancellations, tuition will not be adjusted, nor will classes be made up. Essentials Dance Company follows the Shelby County inclement weather policy. If Shelby County Schools are closed due to inclement weather then classes are canceled for that day.

Tuition is due on the 1st of the month. A $10 fee will be added to late payments. Prices are based on a 4 week month. If a holiday causes there to be only 2 weeks in a month, then tuition will be half. If there is only 3 weeks in a month, and 5 in another month, tuition will not be prorated. If tuition becomes a month overdue the student will not be able to return to class until payments are made. No adjustments for absences.

Payments can be made by the month, semester, or year.

Payments can be made by cash, check, credit card, or direct debit.

Dropping - IN ORDER TO DROP FROM THE PROGRAM A WRITTEN DROP LETTER MUST BE SUBMITTED AT LEAST 30 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF YOUR DROP TO AVOID PAYING TUITION FOR THE NEXT MONTH.

For example: if you will not be able to attend classes in February you must notify us through a written statement by January 1st in order to avoid paying February's tuition.

Parents can watch class on the monitor outside the studio doors. Parents of students not performing in the spring show will be able to watch their child's class in the studio the last week of the spring semester. Levels Mini 1 & up are eligible to perform in our annual Spring Show.

Clothes

For Ballet and Pointe: Any color leotard. Tights are optional, but must be pink.

NO ISOTONER HOUSE SLIPPERS!

For Contemporary, Jazz, and Tap: Dance shorts (Katrinawear brand highly recommended) and any tight fitting top (no baggy t-shirts please) that allows the dancer's body lines to be seen.

For Hip-Hop: Active wear and tennis shoes. No jeans or skirts. Represent your style. Hip hop is all about style and personality.

For Boys: Anything you move well in. No jeans.

Shoes

For Ballet: Pink ballet shoes with a leather or canvas sole.

For Pointe: Shoes will be fitted by Miss Scarlet.

For Contemporary and Jazz: Suntan Capezio slip on, item number CG15

For Tap: Bloch tan slip on, item number SO388.

For Hip Hop: osaris or dc skate shoe (no wheels)

imitation brands are fine (example pictured) shoe can be any color, low top or high top

Hair must be pulled securly away from face in a neat bun for ballet or a ponytail for all other classes
