Dance Calendar 2020-2021

September 1st - Classes Begin
October 1st - Discount Spring Show Fee Due (Paid in Full) $100

October 1st - Spring Show1st Installment Due $50

October 11-18 Fall Break – No Classes

November 1st - Spring Show Fee 2nd Installment Due $50

November 23rd-29th Thanksgiving Break – No Classes
December 1st - Spring Show Fee Final Installment Due $50
December 14th-January 3rd Holiday Break

January 4th - 2nd Semester begins
March 14th-21st Spring Break – No Classes

 

Attendance

Attendance is very important for your child, as well as, the teacher and fellow students. If a student misses more than 6 classes, she/he may NOT be able to participate in the Spring Show. Fees will not be refunded due to absences.

 

Students should arrive 5-10 minutes before class. Every child should visit the restroom before class starts, as restroom breaks are limited to emergencies only. The teacher cannot leave the classroom during class to assist with potty breaks.  In order for a student to progress, regular attendance is needed and expected.

 

 If a student knows in advance that he or she will not be able to attend class, he or she should notify the staff. 

Make-up classes are available for most levels. If a dancer must miss a class, you can check with your teacher to see if another class is available. If your teacher becomes ill or has a conflict, she will either provide a substitute teacher or a make-up class will be scheduled. 

 If inclement weather causes cancellations, tuition will not be adjusted, nor will classes be made up.  Essentials Dance Company follows the Shelby County Schools inclement weather policy. If Shelby County schools are closed due to inclement weather then classes are canceled for that day.

Shelby County schools are not followed regarding closings due to the Coronavirus pandemic. For information regarding classes during this time check the Classes page and contact EDC with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Studio Etiquette

No food or gum chewing is allowed in class. Water is the only drink allowed during class.

All students must be potty trained.

Students should enter the dance studio completely dressed in required attire with shoes on, ready for class.

Please do not move or touch plants or trees.

 

Please do not harm or end the life of any insect on-premises. If you would like an insect removed for you please calmly contact an EDC teacher or Coach Becca. 

 

EDC patrons including but not limited to students, parents, siblings, relatives, and friends may not touch any EDC or FII equipment without permission at any time.

 

All belongings should be sanitized prior to entering the premises and placed in the cubbies by the restroom. 

Dress Code

Tiny Tots (ages 3-4) choose either a pink or purple leotard as well as ballet shoes from the store link.

Tiny Trainers (ages 5-6 ) and Trainees (ages 7-10) choose leotards or two-piece outfits from the selection. 

 

Shoe requirements:

Ballet shoes required and technique (Sophia Lucia half-sole turner shoe optional) if you are signed up for the technique (ballet/jazz combo class). Ballet shoe color- Pink for girls and Black for boys.

Tap shoes if signing up for tap.Tan for girls and Black for boys.

Tennis shoes of your own (no need to purchase new ones) for hip hop. 

 

Any student that needs teen or adult sizes should simply choose the category for teens and adult sizing.

Tuition

Email us for information on our Early Bird, multi-class, and full-year commitment discounts!

 

Registration Fee: $65

Regular Tuition:

1 class per week: $75

2 classes per week: $100

3 classes per week: $130

4 classes per week: $150

Spring Show Fee:

$75 if paid in full by October 1st or 4 installments of $25 spread out over the entire fall semester

All tuition is due the first of the month and may be paid by check, cash, Venmo, or PayPal. Checks should be made payable to Essentials Dance Company.  Full tuition is due September, October,  & November while only half is due in December.  Full tuition is due in January, February, March, and April. May tuition will be determined by the Spring Show date. 

 

If COVID causes shutdowns of businesses, classes may be held over zoom and/or pre-recorded class videos made available to students. Tuition is due even if in-person classes are not possible.

No adjustments for absences, holidays, or school closings.

Class Placement and Student Evaluation

Initial class placement will be made by Essentials Dance Company's staff based on age, previous experience, and a placement class. 

 

Students may attend a $15 trial class prior to enrolling.  The trial fee is applied to your first month's tuition.
